My favorite thing as a blogger is learning of historic figures still with us and writing about them. I had heard of Magnificent and even have a promo 45 around somewhere but hadnt heard the name for years until Doug Sterbens(sp) of WUHH plaYed some of the rare Sam Cooke interview on Street Corner Serenade 6-3-23. ... 

Magnificent Montague was a fixture at KGFJ Los Angeles in the 50s and 60s and should need no introduction but he probably does. Still rock and rollin at 95 , he was one of the pioneers of not only black radio but radio itself- perhaps overlooked and underrated due to lac k of exposure in the then white media but very influential In The black community
