As for the mystery piano player (for us, anyway), he Sounded a lot like Charles Brown but he wasn't Brown. He was Eamon Flynn from
Ireland - a fantastic piano player in the blues tradition and even and even wore Charles' sparkly hat they said longtime bassist Ruth Brown (who played with Brown) brought along
As for the music the quintet of Flynn on piano , Davies on base, Caron on guitar , drummer for now without a name and fame saxophonist Clifford Solomon ran through a number of Charles Brown's songs including Christmas hits 'Please for come home for Christmas 'sung by talented guest singer -we will try to get his name, too. In the finale, it was 'Merry Christmas baby' sung by none other than local favorite and Charles Brown devotee Maria Muldaur.' All my life' was another favorite of ours written by Charles Brown this tine performed by our nameless local talent.
Only complaint was that the show was not long enough. But you can catch Muldaur again probably singing some of those Christmas tunes plus her own on December 21st in Napa's sebastiani Winery theater and 22nd at the Back room in Berkeley where Danny should be on the bill again. Try to catch it.
VIDEO Charles Brown during 2nd career
If you never saw here's a concert he did in Germany. You'll notice Danny Caron on guitar this during the rediscovering years the second career
